POUDRE RIVER PULLOVER

Description

Inspired by the rushing waters of the Poudre River in Northeastern Colorado, this Aran sweater presents a modern design aesthetic in its clean lines, simplicity and comfortable shapings. The tweedy gray yarn with blue and green flecks is reminiscent of the river rocks. The double turned cables and honeycomb stitch echo the swirls in the water as the river flows. The knot stitch recalls the pebbles on the shore. The Poudre River also features a traditional cabled welt and shoulder strap. The shoulder strap shapes the neck by adding a two inch wide "bridge" over each shoulder. To accommodate for the width of the shoulder strap, one inch is deducted from the length of both the front and the back. The neck ribbing can be worked to desired length for a crewneck, mock or full turtleneck. This sweater was originally published in the now Out-Of-Print Fall 1997 "Aran" Issue of Interweave Knits Magazine.

AUTUMN KIMONO

Description
The Autumn Kimono is inspired by the rich colors of autumn. The luscious gold, orange, purples, reds of the handpainted yarn bring to mind the kaleidoscope color show presented by Mother Nature each fall.

This is an easy intermediate project that will increase your skills tool-kit with its inclusion of several couture touches - such as one row horizontal buttonholes, double breasted-closure and side vents. The body of this cross front double-breasted kimono inspired jacket is trimmed in a coordinating solid. Consider choosing a trim color that will pull your favorite shade of autumn from the lovely color-scattered fabric that only a handpainted yarn will produce.
