Tara Jon Manning has been captivated by all things fiber since she was a child, having started knitting at age eight. Her designs can be seen in knitting magazines, books, and collections from major yarn companies. Tara holds a master’s degree in apparel/ textile design and fiber arts and a bachelor’s degree in drawing and painting.

Tara’s former retail store, Over the Moon, was named one of “America’s Most Loved Yarn Shops” by Interweave Press’s Knitter’s Stash. She has lived in Boulder, Colorado most of her life, and organic products and holistic care are a part of Tara’s everyday world. The mother of two, Tara finds her biggest inspiration in her children, nature and Asian arts.

Tara enjoys sharing her love and knowledge of handknitting through teaching. Tara now offers handknitting workshops, and the unique and popular Mindful Knitting Retreats.

Her books include Men in Knits (Interweave Press), The Gift Knitter (Berkley Books/Penguin), Mindful Knitting & Compassionate Knitting (Tuttle Publishing) and most recent book Nature Babies (Potter Craft).
